Former UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard has signed a multi-fight deal to compete for World Series of Fighting.

Guillard is expected to make his promotional debut in July, according to the WSOF’s announcement. WSOF 11 is currently scheduled for July 5, highlighted by a welterweight title showdown between Rousimar Palhares and Jon Fitch.

“I’m excited to start a new chapter in my career,” Guillard stated in a release. “I feel like a brand new fighter with a great opportunity. I’m looking to prove I’m one of, if not the best lightweight in the world.”

Guillard has gone 2-5 with one no-contest in his last eight bouts. The hard-hitting 31-year-old last competed on March 8, dropping a unanimous decision to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 38. “The Young Assassin” has earned 20 of his 31 wins by form of knockout and owns notable victories over Mac Danzig, Jeremy Stephens and Evan Dunham.
