Megan Anderson Pumped to Make Octagon Debut Against Big Name Like Holly Holm

Former Invicta Fighting Championships featherweight champion Megan Anderson is set to make her Ultimate Fighting Championship debut against Holly Holm at UFC 225. The bout will take place at featherweight inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, on June 9. This will be the first non-title women’s featherweight bout in UFC history, with the winner most likely to get a shot at the champion, Cristiane Justino.

The 28-year-old Australian comes into the UFC with a lot of hype surrounding her. Anderson is a physically intimating featherweight who many believe can match Cyborg, who is used to bullying her opponents inside the Octagon.

Anderson is riding a four-fight winning streak and last fought in January 2017, where she beat Charmaine Tweet via a technical knockout in the second round for the interim Invicta FC featherweight championship, which was later promoted to undisputed champion.

Anderson recently talked to MMAFighting.com and said she was surprised that the UFC matched her with a big name like Holm for her debut:

“I was actually really surprised. It wasn’t something that I had actually [considered]. I’d seen Cat Zingano come out a few weeks and said that she had really big news about a potential big fight. I could remember watching you and then connecting the dots that maybe she was fighting Holly, maybe that’s in the works. I didn’t really have Holly in mind, so it definitely did come as a shock. I think is a perfect opportunity to showcase my skills against someone that’s the caliber that Holly is. She’s held world titles in MMA and boxing and she’s done a lot for this sport. I’m excited.”

Anderson was previously in talks to make her UFC debut against Cyborg at UFC 214, although had to withdraw from the fight due to personal issues.
