A knee injury has forced “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 11 winner
Court
McGee out of a scheduled middleweight contest with Jesse
Bongfeldt at UFC
131. Instead, the Canadian will now meet replacement Chris
Weidman (Pictured) at the June 11 event.
Scheduled to take place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, UFC 131 will be headlined by heavyweight contenders Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos, as they lock horns following coaching stints on “The Ultimate Fighter 13.”
Also official for the event is a middleweight scrap pitting heavy-handed wrestler Mark Munoz against jiu-jitsu ace Demian Maia. Additionally, a pair of featherweight conflicts have been greenlit for the show, as Kenny Florian makes his 145-pound debut against Diego Nunes, and up-and-comer Dustin Poirier toes the line against Brazilian Rani Yahya.
A former All-American wrestler at Hofstra University, Weidman holds a perfect record through his nascent career as a professional. Following four successful appearances inside the Ring of Combat promotion, the Matt Serra protégé made his UFC debut against Alessio Sakara at UFC Live 3, grinding out a unanimous decision over the seasoned Italian.
