Mayweather vs. McGregor Pay-Per-View Undercard to Include Two Title Fights
The pay-per-view undercard for the blockbuster bout between
Floyd
Mayweather and Conor
McGregor will feature a pair of championship fights.
Showtime and Mayweather Promotions revealed on Thursday that the card will feature a WBA light heavyweight title match between Nathan Cleverly (30-1-3, 16 KOs) and Badou Jack (21-1-2, 12 KOs) as well as an IBF junior lightweight championship tilt pitting Gervonta Davis (18-0, 17 KOs) against Francisco Fonseca (19-0-1, 13 KOs). Additionally, Andrew Tabiti will lock horns with Steve Cunningham (29-8-1, 13 KOs) in a 10-round cruiserweight affair.
The Mayweather vs. McGregor card takes place at the T-Mobile Arena
in Las Vegas on Aug. 26 and will be available via pay-per-view for
$89.95 in standard definition and $99.95 in high definition.
Cleverly last appeared in October, when he stopped Juergen Braehmer in the sixth frame to capture the WBA strap in Germany. Jack, meanwhile, is coming off a majority draw against James DeGale in a middleweight championship unification bout.
Added Jack: "I'm thankful for this opportunity and I'm excited about getting another shot at a world title. To be a part of this event and fighting on this card is historic. Nothing beats it. I'm excited to get back in the ring. I'm getting ready to take that belt, and win a title in my second weight class.”
Davis will be making his second title defense after winning the belt with a seventh-round knockout of Jose Pedraza and retaining it with a third-round stoppage of Liam Walsh on May 20. Fonseca, meanwhile, will be fighting in the United States for the first time in his professional career.
"I'm really excited to fight as the co-main event on the biggest card in combat sports history," Davis said. "I plan to put on a great show for everyone in attendance in Las Vegas and for those who purchase the pay-per-view. I want to thank my team for this incredible opportunity. I'm ready for Floyd Mayweather to pass his torch to me. To my fans, I appreciate all of you. Support me and I'll fight for you.”
Meanwhile, two bouts were revealed for the Fox televised portion of the Mayweather vs. McGregor undercard: Shawn Porter (27-2-1, 17 KOs) vs. Thomas Dulorme (24-2, 16 KOs) at welterweight and Juan Heraldez (12-0, 8 KOs) vs. Jose Miguel Borrego (13-0, 12 KOs) at super lightweight.
