Troubled mixed martial artist Jason Miller will fight for the first time in four years when he faces fellow UFC veteran Luke Barnatt at Venator FC 3 in Italy on May 21.
The bout, which will be for the Barnett’s middleweight title, was announced on Tuesday. Since then, the former “Bully Beatdown” host has run afoul of the law on numerous occasions. Most recently, Miller was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon at his California home this past October. Prior to that the 35-year-old fighter was arrested on burglary charges for breaking into and vandalizing a church in August 2012; live tweeted a police standoff after he barricaded himself inside his home when officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant in October 2014; and was arrested for brawling with officers outside a Laguna Beach nightclub in March 2015.
“‘Mayhem’ Miller is a beast. He is one of the most beloved fighters of all times and people have badly missed such a performer with guts, attitude and at the same time a strong will to win big and to entertain" Venator FC President Frank Merenda said in a release. "He’s a huge, huge achievement for Venator FC to have him back in the saddle for the fans all around the world."
A competitor on Season 17 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Barnatt was released by the Las Vegas-based promotion on the heels of three consecutive losses last year. He returned to the win column in December, submitting Mattia Schiavolin via fourth-round rear-naked choke to capture the Venator FC 185-pound title.
