Matt Brown-Carlos Condit Welterweight Scrap Set for Sacramento’s UFC on Fox 9

Another matchup of top-10 talents has been added to the UFC on Fox 9 bill, as surging veteran Matt Brown locks horns with former interim champion Carlos Condit.

Headlined by a lightweight title showdown between champion Anthony Pettis and former Strikeforce ruler Josh Thomson, UFC on Fox 9 takes place Dec. 14 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif., and will also showcase a pivotal bantamweight showdown between Urijah Faber and Michael McDonald.

Brown has staged a serious comeback in recent years after losing four of five bouts from March 2010 to November 2011, earning six consecutive victories and five finishes to secure his spot in Sherdog’s welterweight top 10. The 32-year-old already owns two victories this year, as he dispatched Canadian prospect Jordan Mein in April before doing the same to fellow veteran Mike Pyle in just 29 seconds last month at UFC Fight Night 26.

Following back-to-back losses to longtime divisional kingpin Georges St. Pierre and current No. 1 contender Johny Hendricks, Condit returned to his winning ways on Aug. 28, when he avenged his 2009 defeat to Martin Kampmann by knocking out “The Hitman” in the fourth round of their UFC Fight Night 27 rematch. The former World Extreme Cagefighting champion owns a 6-3 Octagon record and captured the UFC interim belt last year in a unanimous decision win over ex-Strikeforce titlist Nick Diaz.
