Mark Godbeer-Walt Harris Heavyweight Clash Rebooked for UFC 217 Undercard at MSG

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is going to give the Mark Godbeer-Walt Harris bout another try.

The UFC has announced that the Godbeer-Harris heavyweight clash has been rebooked for the UFC 217 undercard. UFC 217 is scheduled for Nov. 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, headlined by the blockbuster middleweight title bout between Michael Bisping and returning welterweight legend Georges St. Pierre.

The UFC 217 bill is in fact a UFC title tripleheader, also featuring the much-anticipated bantamweight title showdown between former Team Alpha Male compatriots Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillashaw, as well as MMA's pound-for-pound queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk defending her 115-pound title against Rose Namajunas.

Godbeer and Harris were set to meet at UFC 216 in Las Vegas on Nov. 7 but the bout was scuttled on fight night when Derrick Lewis, who was scheduled to take on former UFC heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum, pulled out due to two bulging discs in his back. Harris was then pulled from the Godbeer bout and faced Werdum, where he was armbarred in only 65 seconds.

Godbeer, 33, lasted barely two minutes in his UFC debut last November, succumbing to a Justin Ledet choke in the first round. The former British Association of MMA heavyweight champ rebounded at UFC 209 in March, dominating previously unbeaten Daniel Spitz over 15 minutes.

Prior to the Werdum loss, the 34-year-old Harris took consecutive knockouts over Chase Sherman and Cyril Asker. “The Big Ticket” is now 3-5 in the Octagon.
