Manny Pacquiao to Fight Jeff Horn for WBO Welterweight Title on April 23
It looks like future Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao is going to
remain an active boxer as the Filipino senator is set to fight
virtual unknown Jeff Horn. The bout will take place on April 23,
though a city and venue have yet to be determined.
Top Rank’s Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, tweeted a few days ago that he is receiving offers for the fight from Australia, Russia and the U.S., though “The Land Down Under” seems to be the leading candidate as Horn is a superstar in his Aussie homeland.
The bout will be for “Pac Man’s” WBO welterweight title; Horn is currently the No. 2-ranked contender for the sanctioning body at that weight.
Arum said that he expects to have a definitive location set in stone in the coming weeks and that if the bout, which could be Pacquiao’s last, is held in Australia, it could become the biggest fight that continent has ever seen.
