Injuries have resulted in a new co-main event for the UFC’s Aug. 23 trip to Oklahoma.
The promotion revealed on Wednesday that Demian Maia was forced to withdraw from his welterweight matchup with Mike Pyle due to injury. A few days earlier, Brandon Thatch announced that he was pulling out of a featured 170-pound tilt against Jordan Mein. As a result, Mein and Pyle have been paired for the evening’s co-headliner.

Pyle, 38, has won five of his last six fights. “Quicksand” most recently competed at UFC 170, where he stopped T.J. Waldburger via third-round TKO.
The 24-year-old Mein already has 37 professional bouts on his ledger. “Young Gun” is 2-1 with the Las Vegas-based promotion, besting Dan Miller and Hernani Perpetuo while falling to Matt Brown.
