The Las Vegas-based promotion confirmed the middleweight pairing on
Thursday following an initial report from
MMA Today. UFC Fight Night 125 takes place at Manguerinho
Gymnasium on Feb. 3 and will also see Valentina
Shevchenko make her flyweight debut against Priscila
Cachoeira. The card will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
A former light heavyweight champion and middleweight title
challenger, Machida enters the matchup with Anders on a three-bout
skid. The 38-year-old Brazilian was finished by both Yoel Romero
Rockhold in 2015, and after serving a USADA-mandated
suspension, suffered a first-round knockout loss to Derek
Brunson in his Octagon return at UFC Fight Night 119 on Oct.
28. Machida’s last victory was a first-round TKO of C.B. Dolloway
in December 2014.
Anders, meanwhile, is unbeaten in his first 10 professional
outings. The former University of Alabama linebacker began his
promotional tenure with a first-round knockout of Rafael
Natal at UFC on Fox 25 before garnering a unanimous verdict
Perez in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 123.
