Luke Rockhold-Ronaldo Souza Rematch to Headline UFC Fight Night Event on Nov. 26

A rematch between former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight titleholder Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo Souza will headline a UFC Fight Night event on Nov. 26 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The UFC on Sunday made the matchup official (online betting).

Rockhold last fought at UFC 199 on June 4, when he surrendered the middleweight crown in an upset loss to Michael Bisping in Inglewood, California. The setback snapped a five-fight winning streak for the 31-year-old American Kickboxing Academy representative, who had submitted Bisping with a guillotine choke the first time the two met in 2014. Since arriving in the UFC a little more than three years ago, Rockhold has emerged as one of the world’s premier middleweights, with victories over Costas Philippou, Tim Boetsch, Lyoto Machida and Chris Weidman.

A two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist and multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion, Souza last appeared at UFC 198 in May, when he disposed of Vitor Belfort with first-round punches in Curitiba, Brazil. The 36-year-old Brazilian has won nine of his past 10 bouts, a split decision loss to Olympic silver medalist Yoel Romero his only misstep. Victories over Robbie Lawler, Tim Kennedy, Derek Brunson, Yushin Okami and Gegard Mousasi highlight the outstanding “Jacare” resume.

Rockhold defeated Souza by unanimous decision to win the Strikeforce middleweight championship in September 2011.
