Lightweights Khabib Nurmagomedov, Michael Johnson Confirmed for UFC 205 Lineup

The UFC 205 lineup just got a little bit stronger.

UFC President Dana White confirmed during a press conference on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden that Khabib Nurmagomedov will lock horns with Michael Johnson in a lightweight bout on Nov. 12. White initially hinted at the matchup earlier in the day on SportsCenter, but the contest had not been finalized at the time.

UFC 205 is headlined by a lightweight championship clash between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor and airs on pay-per-view. Nurmagomedov was rumored for a bout with Alvarez last week, but ultimately that did not come to fruition.

Nurmagomedov, 28, is unbeaten in 23 professional bouts, including seven Octagon appearances. After being sidelined for approximately two years, “The Eagle” returned to action with a second-round stoppage of Darrell Horcher at UFC on Fox 19 this past April.

Johnson, meanwhile, halted a two-fight skid at UFC Fight Night 94, as he knocked out Dustin Porier 1:35 into the opening round of their headlining clash. The Blackzilians representative is 9-6 over the course of a promotional tenure that began in 2010 following a stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 12.”
