For its first four years of existence, Legacy Fighting Championship was known only for mixed martial arts events.
That will change next year, however, as the Texas-based promotion on Thursday revealed plans to move into the professional kickboxing realm beginning in January 2015. Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard told Sherdog.com that he hopes to stage three to four kickboxing cards in 2015, but that could “easily expand to more” in the future.

While Maynard said that there are currently no plans to hold MMA and kickboxing bouts on the same card, he does expect that some fighters under Legacy contract will cross over to compete in both the cage and ring. With plans for the new venture in place, Maynard mentioned that the promotion will look to add more standup-based fighters to its roster.
Legacy FC has held 33 events since its debut Nov. 7, 2009. The promotion’s next card, Legacy FC 34, is scheduled for Aug. 29 at the Horshoe Tunica Hotel and Casino in Tunica, Miss.
