Konstantin Erokhin Suspended 1 Year for Positive Steroid Test at ‘TUF 22’ Finale

Ex-UFC heavyweight Konstantin Erokhin was suspended for one year by the Nevada Athletic commission for failing a drug test at “The Ultimate Fighter 22” finale on Dec. 11.

Erokhin tested postive for the anabolic steroid drostanolone in a pre-fight drug screening administered by the NAC. In addition to the suspension, Erokhin was fined $3,000, which accounted for approximately 33 percent of his $10,000 purse from the event. The 34-year-old was not present at Wednesday’s NAC hearing. His suspension is retroactive to Dec. 11.

The “TUF 22” finale took place at the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and saw Frankie Edgar stop Chad Mendes via first-round knockout in the evening’s headliner. Erokhin was the only fighter from the event to fail a drug test.

Erokhin dropped a lackluster unanimous decision to Gabriel Gonzaga at the “TUF 22” finale, his second loss in as many UFC appearances. He was released by the promotion in late January. Prior to his brief Octagon tenure, Erokhin won nine of his first 10 pro outings, including triumphs over Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Brett Rogers and Dave Huckaba.
