Khonry Gracie, Son of Royce Gracie, to Make Pro Debut at Bellator 192 on Jan. 20
Khonry
Gracie, the son of UFC Hall of Famer Royce Gracie,
will make his professional mixed martial arts debut at Bellator
192.
Sherdog.com confirmed the news with a promotion official following an initial report from Combate.com. Gracie’s opponent will be named at a later date. Gracie has signed a long-term contract with the California-based organization.
Bellator 192 takes place at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Jan.
20 and is headlined by a welterweight championship clash between
Douglas
Lima and Rory
MacDonald. The card also includes the first matchup of the
promotion’s heavyweight tournament, as Quinton
Jackson will square off against Chael
Sonnen.
The 20-year-old Gracie made his amateur debut on Sept. 22, taking a three-round decision over Ben Clark at Attitude MMA Fights 10. While his father made his name in the UFC, Royce last appeared under the Bellator MMA banner on Feb. 19, 2016, when he earned a first-round technical knockout triumph over Ken Shamrock at Bellator 149. Khonry Gracie reportedly wore Bellator MMA gloves during his amateur bout.
"When my father told me, ‘Son, it's your turn.’ I did not ask any questions. I went in there and gave my best,” the elder Gracie told Combate. “Now it's my son's turn to shine on the world's biggest MMA stage at Bellator 192, Jan. 20 in Los Angeles.”
