A featherweight championship showdown between Tachi Palace Fights titleholder Georgi Karakhanyan and WEC veteran Micah Miller will take place at TPF 12 “Second Coming,” promotion officials recently announced.
The event is scheduled for March 9 at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif., and is expected to stream online. Karakhanyan-Miller marks the card’s first confirmed bout.
A veteran of two Bellator Fighting Championships featherweight tournaments, Karakhanyan racked up a promotional record of 2-2 before exiting the Chicago-based organization last year. Since his departure from Bellator, the 26-year-old has posted three consecutive victories, most recently capturing the vacant TPF strap by finishing Isaac DeJesus with a triangle choke on Dec. 2.
Fans of “The Ultimate Fighter” may recall that Miller was featured on the debut episode of Season 14, falling by submission to Steven Siler in a qualifying exhibition bout. The 24-year-old’s last official bout took place Dec. 2, 2010, at TPF 7, where he submitted DeJesus with a neck crank exactly one year prior to Karakhanyan’s submission win over the former champion.
