Julianna Pena, the first female winner of “The Ultimate Fighter,” will clash with Jessica Andrade at UFC 171.
Promotion officials announced the pairing on Monday evening, as well as a featherweight bout pitting Dennis Bermudez against Jim Hettes. UFC 171 takes place at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas and is headlined by a welterweight title showdown between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.
Pena defeated Jessica Rakoczy via first-round technical knockout at the “TUF 18” finale this past November to become the first female winner of the popular reality show. The 24-year-old known as the “Venezuelan Vixen” is 5-2 as a professional with all of her victories coming by way of knockout or submission.
Andrade, meanwhile, captured her first UFC win with a lopsided three-round verdict over Rosi Sexton at UFC Fight Night 30 in October. The 22-year-old Brazilian debuted in the Octagon with a second-round TKO loss to Liz Carmouche at UFC on Fox 8. “Bate Estaca” has finished nine of her 10 professional triumphs by knockout or submission.
A finalist on Season 14 of “TUF,” Bermudez carries a five-fight winning streak into his meeting with Hettes. After falling to Diego Brandao via submission at the “TUF 14” finale, Bermudez has bested Pablo Garza, Tommy Hayden, Matt Grice, Max Hollaway and Steven Siler in his last five appearances.
Hettes returned to the Octagon for the first time in more than a year at UFC Fight Night 30, where he submitted Robert Whiteford with a triangle choke in the second round. The Pennsylvania native also owns victories over Alex Caceres and Nam Phan during his time with the promotion.
