Joseph Duffy will take on Ivan Jorge when the Ultimate Fighting Championship travels to Glasgow on July 18.
The promotion’s Irish branch confirmed the lightweight pairing Thursday following an initial report from Brazilian outlet Combate. The UFC Fight Night bill takes place at the Hydro SSE Arena and will likely stream via UFC Fight Pass. Duffy-Jorge is the first bout to be announced for the event.
Perhaps best known as the last man to defeat breakout featherweight star Conor McGregor, Duffy made his Octagon debut at UFC 185, where he scored a first-round knockout of Jake Lindsey with a punch to the body. “Irish Joe” has lost just once in 14 professional outings and has finished 12 of his foes inside the distance.
Jorge, meanwhile, is 2-1 with the Las Vegas-based promotion. His first appearance of 2015 came at UFC Fight Night “Bigfoot vs. Mir,” where he captured a unanimous decision triumph over Josh Shockley. The Brazilian known as “Batman” is 26-4 overall, including 13 victories via tapout.
