Joseph Benavidez to Face Ben Nguyen at UFC Fight Night 110 in New Zealand

Joseph Benavidez will square off against Ben Nguyen at UFC Fight Night 110 in New Zealand on June 11, promotion officials announced on Thursday.

Additionally, two previously reported bouts were confirmed: a heavyweight headliner between Mark Hunt and Derrick Lewis and a middleweight tilt pitting Derek Brunson against Dan Kelly. UFC Fight Night 110 takes place at Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. Also, a flyweight clash between John Moraga and Ashkan Mokhtarian was also announced on Thursday.

A two-time flyweight title challenger, Benavidez enters the matchup on a six-fight winning streak. In his last outing, the 32-year-old took a split decision over Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo at “The Ultimate Fighter 24” finale.” Benavidez is 12-2 in the Las Vegas-based promotion, with his only two defeats coming to reigning 125-pound champ Demetrious Johnson.

Nguyen, meanwhile, has been victorious in three of his four Octagon appearances. Most recently, the 28-year-old Sioux Falls, S.D., native outpointed Geane Herrera at UFC Fight Night 101. Nguyen owns a 15-6 career record.
