The featherweight title rematch between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes will likely take place at an event in Brazil this October.

UFC President Dana White announced the news during the UFC on Fox 12 post-fight press conference on Saturday night. Although a venue has not been officially named, Aldo-Mendes 2 is expected to take place at UFC 179, which is scheduled for Oct. 25 in Rio de Janeiro.

The two featherweights were originally supposed to lock horns at UFC 176 in Los Angeles on Aug. 2, but that pay-per-view event was canceled when Aldo withdrew from the bout after suffering a neck injury in training.

Aldo first defended his featherweight crown against Mendes at UFC 142. The Brazilian made short work of the Team Alpha Male standout in their initial meeting, knocking his opponent out with a knee 4:59 into the opening round of their title bout.

Since then, Mendes has racked up five straight wins, including notable triumphs over Darren Elkins, Clay Guida and Nik Lentz. Aldo, meanwhile, has successful defended the featherweight strap against Frankie Edgar, Chan Sung Jung and Ricardo Lamas.
