Jon Jones: ‘If I Made It to the Top of the Mountain Once, I Can Do It Again’

It sounds like Jon Jones hasn’t given up on resurrecting his mixed martial arts career.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion posted a video on Instagram recently which highlighted some of the moments and interactions he has had during his tenure as one of the sport’s biggest stars. Perhaps more interesting was the caption that accompanied the video.

“If I made it to the top of the mountain once, I can do it again,” Jones wrote. “I believe there are talents inside of me I haven't even discovered yet. There's nothing I put my mind to that I can't achieve, just got to be willing to put in the work. Who's ready to work?”

Jones also posted another video of himself hitting mitts with coach Brandon Gibson, which included the hastags #Day1 and #PickYourselfUpAndStartAgain.

The 30-year-old Jackson-Wink MMA product is still awaiting a hearing with the California State Athletic Commission in December after testing positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol after his victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 in Anaheim on July 29. Jones, who previously failed a drug test ahead of UFC 200 for a pair of estrogen blockers, could be facing up to a four-year suspension as a second-time offender.

As a result of his positive test, Jones’ victory over Cormier at UFC 214 was overturned to a no contest and “DC” was reinstated as light heavyweight champion. “Bones” will likely attempt to prove that his test came from a tainted supplement, which could result in a reduced suspension. A detailed breakdown of Jones’ potential USADA sanctions has been outlined by BloodyElbow.com’s Ian Kidd and can be viewed here.
