If there was a way to turn his failed UFC 183 weigh-in into a positive, John Lineker did so by defeating Ian McCall via unanimous decision on Saturday.
Lineker, who has failed to hit the required mark of 125 pounds on four separate occasions, showed off his power against a former challenger to Demetrious Johnson’s UFC title. Lineker’s weight issues will ultimately prevent him from challenging “Mighty Mouse” for the belt, as UFC President Dana White announced that the company will not allow the Brazilian to compete inside the Octagon unless he moves up to bantamweight.

“I would like apologize to the UFC. I have had some difficulty with the weight cut and getting there,” Lineker said during the UFC 183 post-fight press conference. “I’m going to go up to 135 [pounds] and make some noise there. I’m going for the title.”
There’s no question that since entering the UFC fray, Lineker has made noise, both positive and negative. Aside from the weight issues, the 24-year-old has gone 6-2 under the UFC banner.
