Pedro Munhoz will welcome Jerrod Sanders to 135 pounds at UFC Fight Night "MacDonald vs. Saffiedine."
UFC officials on Wednesday announced the fight, which marks the bantamweight debut for Sanders after his initial Octagon foray came at 155 pounds. In addition, a women’s strawweight clash between Kailin Curran and Paige Van Zant will take place on the Oct. 4 card, which will be held at the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and is headlined by a welterweight clash between Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine.
A Bellator and WSOF veteran, Sanders came into the UFC riding a 12-fight winning streak but was defeated via technical knockout by Yosdenis Cedeno at UFC Fight Night “Cerrone vs. Miller.” An injury prevented the 33-year-old Oklahoma City native from continuing past the first round in that defeat.
Munhoz, a former Resurrection Fighting Alliance champion, also lost his UFC debut. He has since bounced back with a technical knockout win at the expense of Matt Hobar during “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3” finale. In all, “The Young Punisher” has lost only once in his career and has won eight of his 11 fights by way of finish.
