Jake Matthews, Tony Martin Booked for Welterweight Clash at UFC Fight Night Adelaide

Jake Matthews will square off against Tony Martin at UFC Fight Night 142.

The Las Vegas-based promotion confirmed the welterweight pairing to the News Herald on Saturday. UFC Fight Night 142 takes place at Adelaide Entertainment Center in Adelaide, Australia on Dec. 1 and is headlined by a heavyweight tilt pitting Junior dos Santos against Tai Tuivasa.

The 24-year-old Matthews is currently on a three-bout winning streak after besting Shinso Anzai, Jingliang Li and Bojan Velickovic in succession. “The Celtic Kid” is 7-3 in the Octagon and 14-3 as a professional overall, with 11 of his triumphs coming inside the distance.

After a 4-4 stint at 155 pounds, Martin has won back-to-back fights in the UFC at welterweight. Most recently, the 28-year-old American Top Team representative earned a third-round knockout win over Ryan LaFlare at UFC 229. Martin is 14-4 in his professional career.
