Jake Ellenberger, Martin Kampmann to Headline June 1 ‘TUF 15’ Finale

The headlining attraction for the 15th-season finale of “The Ultimate Fighter” will see Jake Ellenberger lock horns with Martin Kampmann in a five-round welterweight contest, UFC officials announced Wednesday.

The show is expected to air live on FX and Fuel TV from Las Vegas on June 1. In addition to the Ellenberger-Kampmann main event, the card will showcase the finals of “TUF 15” featuring a pair of to-be-determined competitors from the ongoing season of the reality show.

Known as “The Juggernaut,” Ellenberger has steamrolled the majority of his competition as of late, earning six consecutive Octagon wins dating back to January 2010. The Omaha, Neb., native posted three victories in 2011, edging Carlos Eduardo Rocha via split decision at UFC 126 before finishing Sean Pierson and Jake Shields to close out the year. Most recently, the 26-year-old kicked off 2012 with a hard-fought victory over Diego Sanchez at UFC on Fuel TV 1, holding off a late charge from “The Dream” to take a unanimous decision on Feb. 15.

Three years older than his opponent, Kampmann has posted back-to-back victories in his last two starts. Following contentious decision defeats to Shields and Sanchez, the Dane capped 2011 with a unanimous decision win over rising prospect Rick Story. Capitalizing on that victory, the Xtreme Couture representative pulled off a come-from-behind submission of hard-hitting Brazilian Thiago Alves on March 3 at UFC on FX 2, catching “Pitbull” with an arm-in guillotine with just 48 seconds remaining in the bout.
