Mike Thomas Brown and Ricardo Lamas have suffered undisclosed injuries and have been forced to withdraw from their respective bouts at UFC on FX 1 and UFC 143, promotion officials announced Thursday.

UFC on FX 1 is headlined by a pivotal lightweight confrontation between Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard and takes place Jan. 20 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. UFC 143 follows on Feb. 4, featuring an interim welterweight title collision between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Brown was slated to lock horns with Vagner Rocha, while Lamas had signed on to meet Dustin Poirier. No replacement opponents were announced. The former World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight champion, Brown, 36, has returned to his winning ways after suffering back-to-back losses to kick off 2011. Following defeats to Diego Nunes and Rani Yahya, the American Top Team standout emerged victorious on Aug. 6, outpointing Nam Phan at UFC 133.

Lamas answered the call to face Dustin Poirier as an injury replacement himself, as “The Diamond” was originally scheduled to square off with Eric Koch. Lamas, 29, has won five of his last six fights, earning a pair of wins in 2011. Following a knockout loss to end last year, the hard-punching wrestler posted victories over Matt Grice and Cub Swanson in June and November to kick off his UFC career.
