Ian McCall to Make Octagon Return at UFC 201 Opposite Justin Scoggins

It looks like Ian McCall’s long-awaited return to the Octagon will happen at UFC 201 in Atlanta on July 30. The flyweight will stand opposite rising prospect Justin Scoggins, according to a report on BloodyElbow Saturday afternoon.

McCall had a stint in World Extreme Cagefighting before moving to Tachi Palace Fights, where he dominated the competition and captured that promotion’s 125-pound title. He was signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship and fought to an exhilarating draw against current pound-for-pound king Demetrius Johnson. But “Uncle Creepy” ran into problems inside the Octagon as he dropped his next two bouts.

McCall turned things around with two consecutive triumphs, but in January of 2015 at UFC 183, he dropped a decision to John Lineker. Injuries have plagued the Team Oyama fighter and he’s been out of action ever since.

Scoggins, meanwhile, is riding a two-fight winning streak in the UFC after starting his Octagonal career 2-2. “Tank” is coming off a dominant performance against Ray Borg at UFC Fight Night 82 in February.

UFC 201 is headlined by the welterweight championship between titlist Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley. “Mighty Mouse” will also defend his flyweight throne against Wilson Reis as well.
