The UFC Fight Night 34 main event has undergone a major change, as Hyun Gyu Lim will replace an injured Jake Ellenberger in the Jan. 4 headliner.
Sherdog.com confirmed the switch with a UFC official on Friday morning. Brazilian outlet Combate first reported Ellenberger’s injury, and MMAJunkie.com followed the report with news of the Lim-Saffiedine pairing.

Lim has been on a roll of late, going undefeated in his last seven outings. The former Pacific Xtreme Combat welterweight titlist made his UFC debut this past March, knocking out Marcelo Guimaraes before doing the same thing to German prospect Pascal Krauss on Aug. 31 at UFC 164.
Saffiedine captured the Strikeforce welterweight belt in his most recent outing, extending his winning streak to four fights by thoroughly outpointing Nate Marquardt at Strikeforce’s final show this past January. “Sponge” was then expected to make his Octagon debut on July 27 at UFC on Fox 8, but he was forced to withdraw from that booking due to injury.
