Strikeforce alumnus Carlos Augusto Filho will make his Octagon debut against Shane del Rosario when the competitors collide in a heavyweight showdown at UFC 168.

The battle of big men takes place Dec. 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and joins a bill topped by a middleweight title rematch between reigning champion Chris Weidman and former longtime divisional ruler Anderson Silva. The show will also see Ronda Rousey put her women’s bantamweight strap on the line against former Strikeforce rival and current “TUF 18” foil Miesha Tate.

Better known as “Guto Inocente,” Filho last competed in May 2012, when he took a unanimous decision from Virgil Zwicker in a light heavyweight battle under the Strikeforce banner. The 27-year-old rides a four-fight winning streak into his UFC debut and owns five of his six career wins by either knockout or submission.

Del Rosario, meanwhile, last competed in December, suffering a second-round knockout at the hands of kickboxing stylist Pat Barry. The setback marked the second straight defeat for Del Rosario, who was also knocked out by Stipe Miocic in May 2012 after beginning his career with 11 uninterrupted wins. The Strikeforce and EliteXC veteran was slated to return to action this past July against Dave Herman, but that booking was derailed when Del Rosario withdrew due to injury.
