Glory 34 Weigh-in Results: Nieky Holzken, Murthel Groenhart Ready for Title Tilt
Glory, the world’s leading kickboxing promotion, will take to the
Mile High City on Friday as Glory 34: Denver will be the main form
of entertainment inside the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, just
outside Denver, Colo.
Nieky Holzken (89-11, 46 KOs) will defend his welterweight crown against fellow Dutchman Murthel Groenhart (63-22-3, 35 KOs) in the main event. The two have met twice previously with “The Natural” coming out on top twice as Holzken edged his foe by the thinnest of margins on both occasions. The trilogy has been officially set in motion as both combatants weighed in on point at Thursday’s weigh-ins.
Holzken tipped the scale at 169.5 pounds and he looked as fierce as
ever the day before what will be the third defense of his title.
Groenhart looked equally as ready; he came in at 168.5 pounds.
Former Glory middleweight champion Simon Marcus (44-3-2, 24 KOs) will return to the ring in the co-headlining slot of Glory 34 when “The One” will oppose Dustin Jacoby over three rounds. Marcus weighed 186 pounds while Jacoby (9-7, 8 KOs) came in slightly heavier at 186.5.
Also slated for the event will be a four-man same-night Middleweight Contender Tournament featuring Israel Adesanya (63-3, 27 KOs), Alex Pereira (20-4, 11 KOs), Robert Thomas (8-4, 5 KOs) and Yousri Belgaroui (19-2, 10 KOs) will round out the Glory 34 main card.
Glory 34 Denver airs live on ESPN3 at midnight ET/9 p.m. PT. GLORY 34 SuperFight Series, meanwhile, will stream live on UFC Fight Pass at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT.
