Multiple outlets have confirmed that the promotion is targeting the featherweight booking following an initial report from ESPN.com. The UFC has not formally announced the fight.

UFC Fight Night 128 takes place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., on April 21 and is headlined by a lightweight clash pitting Kevin Lee against Edson Barboza. The card airs on Fox Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Edgar authored a dominant performance in their first meeting, ultimately submitting Swanson with a neck crank with just four seconds remaining in their five-round bout at UFC Fight Night 57 in Austin, Texas, on Nov. 22, 2014. That was part of a stretch in which “The Answer” won seven of eight featherweight appearances in the Octagon. Most recently, however, the Toms River, N.J., native suffered a first-round knockout loss to Brian Ortega in a title eliminator bout at UFC 222.

For Swanson, the booking means that the Palm Springs, Calif., native has re-signed with the Las Vegas-based promotion following the conclusion of his previous deal this past December. The 34-year-old is also coming off a setback to Ortega, who defeated him via second-round guillotine choke at UFC Fight Night 123. That ended a four-fight winning streak for the World Extreme Cagefighting veteran.
