The third meeting between Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn has been booked for "The Ultimate Fighter 19" finale on July 6.
The date for the matchup was made official during Wednesday’s episode of UFC Tonight. Edgar and Penn will serve as coaches for the upcoming season of “TUF” before squaring off at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The evening’s main card will air on Fox Sports 1. One day prior, UFC 175 will take place at the same venue and air on pay-per-view.
Edgar already owns two victories over Penn. He defeated “The Prodigy” for the lightweight crown at UFC 112 in a controversial decision before taking a more emphatic victory over the Hawaiian at UFC 118. The upcoming bout will be contested at 145 pounds.
Edgar has competed twice at featherweight, losing a five-round decision to reigning champion Jose Aldo at UFC 156 before outpointing Charles Oliveira last July. Penn, meanwhile, has not fought since December 2012, when he dropped a unanimous verdict to Rory MacDonald in a welterweight clash at UFC on Fox 5.
