Former Bellator heavyweight titleholder Alexander Volkov will return to action against Tony Johnson at Bellator 136, promotion officials announced Wednesday.

The heavyweight bout completes the main card for the April 10 event, which takes place at Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif., and is headlined by a lightweight title tilt between Will Brooks and Dave Jansen. The evening’s main card airs on Spike TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

In addition to Volkov-Johnson, the promotion announced the addition of six new preliminary bouts: Fabricio “Guerreiro” da Silva vs. John Teixeira da Conceicao at featherweight, Cleber Luciano vs. Aaron Miller at a 150-pound catch-weight, Chad George vs. Mark Vorgeas at bantamweight, Ben Jones vs. Luc Bondole at middleweight, John Mercurio vs. Greg Parker at welterweight and Marcos Bonilla vs. A.J. McKee at featherweight.

A previously booked bantamweight contest between Jared Papazian and Raja Shippen has been removed from the card.

Volkov has won five straight fights since relinquishing the heavyweight strap to Vitaly Minakov at Bellator 108 in November 2013. While three of those victories came under the Bellator banner, his most recent two triumphs -- over Roy Boughton and Alexei Kudin -- have occurred on Russian soil.

A member of American Kickboxing Academy, Johnson is 8-1 since beginning his professional tenure in 2008. The King of the Cage veteran owns notable triumphs over Tim Sylvia, Derrick Lewis and Tony Lopez.
