Floyd Mayweather Believes UFC Star Jon Jones Will Eventually Join ‘The Money Team’

Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and ex-UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones could be working together soon.

During a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Mayweather seemed confident that Jones would eventually become part of “The Money Team,” a lifestyle brand which, among other things, sponsors a number of boxers.

“Of course,” Mayweather said when asked about the possibility of Jones joining the “Money Team.” “I mean, there couldn’t be a better team than the ‘Money Team.’”

At the very least, it sounds like Mayweather will be spending some time with “Bones” during his camp as he prepares to regain the 205-pound belt against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 on July 9.

“Jon Jones, I’ll be [out] to see you in a couple weeks in Albuquerque, N.M., in training camp,” Mayweather said. “I stood behind you when you went through a little roller coaster ride. Everyone turned their back on you. We’re still here for you.”

Mayweather, who has expressed an interest in promoting mixed martial arts bouts in the past, has been in the headlines for a rumored boxing match with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

While that seems farfetched at best, a Mayweather-Jones relationship seems far more realistic. Jones, of course, wouldn’t be able to wear any “Money Team” gear during Fight Week as a result of the UFC/Reebok outfitting policy, but the Jackson-Wink MMA product recently posted on Instagram that he had a “great conversation” with Mayweather.
