Final Lineup Announced for Bellator 140; Local Talent Rounds Out Connecticut Card

With just a few weeks to spare, Bellator MMA has fleshed out the remainder of its Bellator 140 card, set to take place July 17 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The promotion Wednesday the addition of several New England-area fighters to fill the event’s undercard.
The newly added fights include a featherweight tilt between Waylon Lowe and Ryan Quinn; Billy Giovanella squaring of against Rodrigo Almeida in a bantamweight encounter; Kaline Medeiros versus Sarah Payant at strawweight; and Dean Hancock locking horns with Alex Dunworth in a lightweight bout.

Giovanella, fighting out of Bellingham, Mass., is set to make his promotional debut after winning four of his last five bouts. He’s largely dominated the regional circuit, most notably in CES MMA and Cage Titans FC. He had won four straight until he was knocked out by Johnny Campbell in the second round back in January.
A resident of Fall River, Mass., Medeiros struggled early on in her pro MMA career, but she’s gotten things rolling as of late, having bounced back from a loss in February with a unanimous decision win over Calie Cutler in April. “The Dark Angel” has won three of four overall.
Bellator 140 is anchored by a welterweight title fight between Douglas Lima and Andrey Koreshkov. The chief prelims will stream live on Spike.com at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT; the main card goes live on Spike TV starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
