Dennis Siver and Cub Swanson will square off in a featherweight co-main event at UFC on Fuel TV 7, promotion officials announced Wednesday.
The event takes place Feb. 16 at Wembley Arena in London and will see Renan “Barao” Pegado defend his UFC interim bantamweight title against rising talent Michael McDonald. The evening’s main draw airs live on Fuel TV and will also showcase a potentially explosive light heavyweight confrontation pitting Cyrille Diabate against Jimi Manuwa.
Siver, 33, recently put forth a superior performance at UFC on Fox 5 this past Saturday, dismantling veteran Nam Phan en route to a unanimous decision victory on the undercard. The victory marks the Russian-born German’s sixth victory in seven fights, as he kicked off 2012 with a hard-fought triumph over the highly regarded Diego Nunes at UFC on Fuel TV 2.
Swanson also rides a hot streak heading into the pivotal featherweight clash, as the Jackson’s MMA rep has not lost since suffering a submission defeat to Ricardo Lamas 13 months ago in his Octagon debut. Three consecutive victories would follow for Swanson, who knocked out George Roop and Ross Pearson earlier this year before doing the same to Charles Oliveira on Sept. 22 at UFC 152.
