Fabricio Werdum is scheduled to take on Travis Browne in the heavyweight main event of UFC on Fox 11, which takes place April 19 at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.
Before facing the dangerous American, jiu-jitsu black belt Werdum will head to the Netherlands for part of his preparation.
“In mid-March, we’ll go to the Netherlands for 15 days to make the final cut with the folks at Mike’s Gym,” Rafael Cordeiro, Werdum’s coach at Kings MMA, told Sherdog.com this week. “We have a good relationship with them, and it will be an honor to be able to share knowledge and add a good game of sparring for Werdum.”
Cordeiro said that this period in the Netherlands will be beneficial for Werdum and will help the 36-year-old Strikeforce veteran prepare for the hard-hitting Browne.
“The Dutch people breathe muay Thai all day. The training will leave Werdum shielded, and that will be an asset in the final stages of preparation,” explained Cordeiro. “We have a lot of respect for our next opponent, but I believe that this exchange with these beasts will be a watershed for a great victory.”
