Pereira captured titles at middleweight and light heavyweight while compiling an 11-4 mark in the kickboxing organization. He also set the record for most championship defenses in Glory middleweight history. “Poatan” joins Joe Valtellini and Semmy Schilt as the third fighter to be inducted into the promotion’s Hall of Fame.

Alex Pereira was one of the greatest champions in Glory history,” said Scott Rudmann, co-founder and vice chairman of Glory. “His accomplishments in the GLory ring speak for themselves, as the only man ever hold the champions belt in two weight classes simultaneously.

“Alex continues to make huge waves in combat sports with his successful shift to MMA, and he continues to bring awareness back to the stand-up combat. He devotes time and money to community service in his home country of Brazil, and he is a wonderful guy, always humble about his enormous accomplishments. We’re proud to have (him) in the Glory Hall of Fame.”

Pereira has enjoyed a successful transition to MMA, capturing UFC middleweight gold with a fifth-round stoppage of Israel Adesanya in November 2022. After relinquishing the 185-pound strap to Adesanya in a rematch at UFC 287, the 36-year-old Teixeira MMA & Fitness representative moved to lightweight, where he outpointed Jan Blachowicz in his debut at UFC 291.

Next, Pereira will face Jiri Prochazka for the vacant 205-pound title at UFC 295 on Nov. 11.
