After splitting a pair of UFC bouts at lightweight, Ernest Chavez will drop to 145 pounds to face Mirsad Bektic when the promotion travels to Oklahoma on Aug. 23.
UFC officials brought word of the bout on Thursday evening. UFC Fight Night "Henderson vs. dos Anjos" takes place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., and is headlined by a lightweight showdown between Benson Henderson and Rafael dos Anjos.
Chavez debuted in the Octagon with a split-decision triumph over Yosdenis Cedeno at UFC 170. In his next outing, he tapped to a rear-naked choke against Elias Silverio at the “TUF: Brazil 3” finale on May 31. Chavez was unbeaten in his first seven pro fights before that defeat.
A highly-touted prospect out of American Top Team, Bektic captured a unanimous verdict over Chas Skelly in his initial promotional foray at UFC on Fox 11. The 23-year-old is unbeaten in eight professional bouts.
