Dong Hyun Kim Gets Replacement Opponent Dominic Waters for UFC Fight Night in Seoul

Dong Hyun Kim has found a new dance partner for UFC Fight Night on Nov. 28 after losing his original opponent in a fight card shuffle.

Ultimate Fighting Championship over the weekend announced that the South Korean welterweight will take on Californian Dominic Waters in a three-round tilt at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul.

Kim’s original opponent, Jorge Masvidal, was pulled from their matchup to face Benson Henderson in the show’s main event after Thiago Alves came up injured.

Since joining the UFC in 2008, Kim has run up an impressive record in one of the Octagon’s most volatile divisions, with 11 wins against three losses and one no-contest. The 33-year-old “Stun Gun” seemed on his way to title contention after a pair of spectacular knockouts, but those plans were derailed in an August 2014 loss to Tyron Woodley. Kim rebounded in May with a third-round submission of former World Series of Fighting titlist Josh Burkman.

Waters will attempt to swim in the deep end when the onetime “Ultimate Fighter” competitior faces the toughest opponent of his career. The former U.S. Marine is no stranger to short-notice bouts: Waters made his UFC debut in July on less than one week’s notice, dropping a unanimous decision to George Sullivan at the “TUF 21” finale.
