Clark captured the vacant Resurrection Fighting Alliance light heavyweight championship with a second-round technical knockout against Rafael Viana in the RFA 37 headliner on Friday at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A hand injury left Viana (6-1) unable to continue between the second and third rounds.

The two men staggered each other with simultaneous hooks during their first standup exchange, but from that point forward, Clark (6-0) was in control. The 25-year-old South Dakotan struck for takedowns in both rounds and grinded Viana with punches and elbows from top position. At some point in round two, the Brazilian suffered an injury to his right middle finger. Once Viana returned to his corner between rounds, it became clear his night was done.

In the co-main event, Pitbull Brothers export Leandro Higo claimed the vacant RFA bantamweight championship, as he rendered Joey Miolla unconscious with a first-round rear-naked choke. Miolla (8-2) went limp 2:07 into round one, his eight-fight winning streak at an end.

Higo (16-2) had to navigate some adversity. Miolla spiked the Brazilian on his head with a takedown and later slammed his way out of an armbar, briefly dazing the “Pitbull.” Higo recovered and waited for an opening. He moved to Miolla’s back after ducking a spinning back elbow, snaked his arms around the neck while still standing and tripped the American to the mat. From there, Miolla’s situation only worsened, as Higo secured his position with hooks and squeezed until the Power MMA Team rep lost consciousness.

The 27-year-old Higo has rattled off seven consecutive victories, six of them finishes.

Meanwhile, unbeaten Power MMA Team prospect Logan Storley dispatched Cody Lincoln with a bone-jarring right hand and follow-up punches in the second round of their welterweight showcase. Storley (4-0) brought it to a close 13 seconds into round two.

Lincoln (3-1) offered little in terms of resistance. A four-time NCAA All-American wrestler at the University of Minnesota, Storley executed a double-leg takedown early in round one, carved through the North Dakotan’s guard and battered him with ground-and-pound. Lincoln weathered the initial advances but only prolonged the inevitable. Storley met him with a straight right hand at the start of the second round and pounded away with punches until referee Bobby Wombacher had seen enough.

Storley was upstaged in some regards by teammate Joseph Gigliotti, who submitted John Poppie with a first-round guillotine choke in a middleweight feature. Poppie (7-3) bowed out 58 seconds into round one.

Gigliotti (7-0) leveled his counterpart with a right hand inside the first 20 seconds and immediately ensnared him in the guillotine. Poppie fought to free himself and forced the Power MMA Team standout to adjust his grip before reluctantly tapping to the choke.

Matthew Lopez (7-0) struck Eli Finn (5-1) into submission with elbows and punches 3:15 into round one of their bantamweight tilt; Brian Camozzi (6-2) knocked out Kenneth Glenn (7-4) with a knee strike 1:02 into the third round of their encounter at 170 pounds; Bryce Logan (4-2) took a unanimous decision from CJ Hunter (2-1) in their three-round lightweight clash; David Michaud (9-2) tapped Chris Hugh (16-12) with a guillotine choke 1:44 into round one of their pairing at 170 pounds; and Jordan Johnson (4-0) submitted Ryan Debelak (4-1) with an arm-triangle choke 62 seconds into the first round of their light heavyweight scrap.
