French featherweight Taylor Lapilus will make his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut on two weeks’ notice when he faces Dennis Siver at UFC Fight Night “Nelson vs. Story” in Sweden.

UFC officials Wednesday confirmed that Lapilus has agreed to replace Siver’s original opponent, Robert Whiteford, who withdrew from the matchup due to an unspecified injury. The 145-pound tilt will take place Oct. 4 at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, an event headlined by a welterweight bout between Gunnar Nelson and Rick Story.

Lapilus, 22, carries an 8-1 record into his first Octagon appearance, with six of those victories coming by way of submission. The Paris native is 3-0 thus far in 2014 and in May won the “Supreme League” featherweight tournament of French organization 100% Fight.

With 31 MMA bouts under his belt, Siver possesses more than three times the experience of his new opponent; in fact, the German-based Russian has 17 fights in the UFC alone. Since dropping to featherweight in April 2012, the 35-year-old has gone 2-1 with one no-contest. His most recent bout, a decision win against Manny Gamburyan in December 2013, was overturned when Siver failed a post-fight drug test.
