Dennis Bermudez, Rony ‘Jason’ to Clash at UFC Fight Night in Salt Lake City

Dennis Bermudez will lock horns with Rony Mariano Bezerra at UFC Fight Night “Ferguson vs. Chiesa” on July 13.

Promotion officials confirmed the featherweight pairing on Thursday following an initial report from Newsday. UFC Fight Night takes place at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is headlined by a lightweight showdown pitting Tony Ferguson against Michael Chiesa.

Bermudez halted a two-fight skid in his first appearance of 2016, as he captured a unanimous verdict over Tatsuya Kawajiri at UFC Fight Night in Pittsburgh on Feb. 21. “The Menace” is 8-3 during his promotional tenure, including notable victories over Clay Guida and Max Holloway.

Bezerra’s most recent outing — initially a victory over Damon Jackson at UFC Fight Night last May — was changed to a no contest after the 32-year-old Brazilian tested positive for a diuretic. With that victory overturned, Rony “Jason’s” last Octagon triumph came against Steven Siler at UFC Fight Night “Shogun vs. Henderson 2” in March 2014. He is 4-2 in the UFC overall.
