A bout of dengue fever has forced Yan Cabral to pull out of his scheduled clash with K.J. Noons at UFC Fight Night “Condit vs. Alves.”
Promotion officials announced the news on Tuesday. As a result, Alex Oliveira will replace Cabral on the May 30 card, which takes place at Goiana Arena in Goiana, Brazil and is headlined by a welterweight showdown between Carlos Condit and Thiago Alves.
Better known as “Cowboy,” Oliveira mad his promotional debut on March 21, when he submitted to a third-round armbar against prospect Gilbert Burns at UFC Fight Night “Maia vs. LaFlare.” Oliveira is 10-2 as a professional, with eight of those triumphs coming via knockout.
A former EliteXC lightweight champion, Noons last appeared at “The Ultimate Fighter 20” finale, where an inadvertent eye poke against Daron Cruickshank resulted in their lightweight matchup being declared a no contest. Prior to that, Noons had scored back-to-back victories over Sam Stout and George Sotiropoulos in his previous two Octagon outings.
