Maia has already solidified himself as one of the top contenders in the welterweight division with six straight triumphs. Most recently, the Brazilian grappling ace submitted former interim champ Carlos Condit in the first-round at UFC on Fox 21 on Aug. 27. Maia also owns notable wins over Matt Brown, Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny during his current winning streak.
A former lightweight title challenger in Strikeforce, Masvidal has reeled off three straight wins in the Octagon at 170 pounds. “Gamebred” earned perhaps the signature triumph of his 43-bout career in his last outing, as he scored a second-round technical knockout of Donald Cerrone at UFC on Fox 23.
