Demetrious Johnson will once again do battle with Joseph Benavidez, when “Mighty Mouse” puts his flyweight title on the line against the Team Alpha Male standout at "The Ultimate Fighter 18" finale finale.
The booking was revealed Tuesday night during the new episode of “UFC Tonight” on Fox Sports 1. The “TUF 18” finale takes place Nov. 30 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will also see Gray Maynard square off with Nate Diaz in a lightweight rematch. The show airs live on FS1 and will additionally feature the ‘TUF 18’ finals in both the men’s and women’s brackets.
Johnson and Benavidez first met one year ago at UFC 152, with Johnson snatching a split decision victory to win the promotion’s four-man flyweight tournament and become the inaugural UFC flyweight king. Since that setback, Benavidez has won three straight fights, topping Ian McCall, Darren Uyenoyama and Jussier da Silva to earn another crack at Johnson and the UFC gold.
Meanwhile, Johnson has defended his belt twice successfully since trumping Benavidez last year in Toronto, first outpointing John Dodson in a hard-fought January showdown before submitting John Moraga with a slick, fifth-round armbar to retain his title this past July at UFC on Fox 8.
