Demetrious Johnson to Make Second Flyweight Title Defense vs. John Moraga on April 13

Rising flyweight John Moraga is making the leap from curtain jerker to UFC headliner, all in a span of two fights.

According to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Moraga will challenge reigning 125-pound king Demetrious Johnson at “The Ultimate Fighter 17” finale on April 13. UFC officials later confirmed the pairing via Twitter. The “TUF 17” finale is expected to be held at The Joint at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and also includes a heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Gabriel Gonzaga as well as a women’s bantamweight matchup pitting Miesha Tate against Cat Zingano.

Johnson captured the promotion’s inaugural flyweight championship by defeating Joseph Benavidez via split decision at UFC 152 in September. “Mighty Mouse” then overcame the punching power of John Dodson at UFC on Fox 6 for his first successful title defense last month.

Moraga defeated Chris Cariaso in the opening bout at UFC 155, submitting the former bantamweight with a guillotine choke in the third round. Prior to that victory, the Arizonan scored an impressive first-round knockout triumph over former Tachi Palace standout Ulysses Gomez at UFC on Fox 4.
