Weichel was originally set to meet Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Paul Redmond before an injury to the Irishman forced him out of the bout six weeks ago, prompting an opponent search. Harper was scheduled to face another Brazilian, Bruna Ellen, until Ellen also fell victim to the injury bug.
SBG Ireland’s Moore, 29, last saw action in February, punching out Mick Brennan under the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts banner. The 27-year-old Vargas made her Bellator debut in July, but was upset via second-round submission by Emily Ducote.
Bellator 169 features a five-fight main card, headlined by “King Mo” Muhammed Lawal battling Olympic judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii at heavyweight. A co-promotion with the aforementioned British Association of Mixed Martial Arts, the full BAMMA 27 event will serve as its undercard, headlined by hot bantamweight prospect Tom Duquesnoy defending his promotional title against Alan Philpott.
