If Dana White has his way, Mario Yamasaki will never officiate an Ultimate Fighting Championship event again.

“[Priscila] Cachoeira, you showed so much heart and toughness in that fight. I’m honored to have you fight in the UFC,” White wrote. “Unfortunately the ref is there to protect you and Mario DID NOT do that. This isn’t his first disgusting performance in the Octagon.
“Another unfortunate thing is that I can’t do anything about it. Only the Brazilian commission can and I am hoping after this scary, incompetent showing he hopefully will never set foot in that Octagon again. Strikes landed was 230-3.”
A former bantamweight title challenger, Shevchenko was widely regarded as a future championship contender at 125 pounds before setting foot in the division. Cachoeira, meanwhile, compiled an 8-0 record on the Brazilian regional circuit before being paired with “Bullet.”

Shevchenko took a more diplomatic view of the stoppage, pointing out that many fighters prefer to go out on their shield.
“I don’t know. The referee has his point of view,” she said on Fox Sports 1. “If I have to finish it this way, it’s fine. But I think sometimes, the referee wants to give a little bit more opportunity to another fighter because I know it’s sometimes you feel [it’s] unfair when you think it was stopped too early. That’s why I’m glad it was finished like this because no one doubted it and no one was saying it was too early. “
