Dan Henderson, Vitor Belfort to Rematch in UFC Fight Night 32 Main Event

Seven years after their first encounter, Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort will lock horns once again in the main event of UFC Fight Night 32.

UFC officials announced the rumored light heavyweight showdown on Friday. Fight Night 32 takes place Nov. 9 in central Brazil’s Goiania, Goias, though a venue has not been revealed. No other bouts were announced for the event.

Henderson and Belfort first met at Pride 32 back in 2006, when Belfort not only lost a unanimous decision but tested positive for a banned substance after the bout. Following the defeat, “The Phenom” strung together five straight wins before falling to then-UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. More recently, the Brazilian has gone 4-1 in his last five fights, knocking out Luke Rockhold with a spinning heel kick this past May at UFC on FX 8.

Six years older than his 36-year-old foe, Henderson has contended for both the middleweight and light heavyweight titles but has yet to capture UFC gold. The ex-Strikeforce ruler compiled seven victories in eight fights from September 2008 to November 2011 but has lost back-to-back bouts heading into his rematch with Belfort. After sustaining a split decision defeat to Lyoto Machida this past February, Henderson suffered the same fate against Rashad Evans four months later at UFC 161.
